The JOKE was on ME!

Posted by TD3444 on 7/8/2009

After receiving a quote, we called them to not come back to do work. They never got hold of their crew, so their crew started. When I got hold of them again, they immediately wanted to know what they could do so I wouldn't get another estimate. They dropped the price 40%, telling me they MUST bring ALL valves to "code" before they could do the gas leak test! The joke was on ME - according to the gas company - they said none of it was neccessary, they only needed to fix the leak. The spokesman I spoke too did everything he could to talk me out of getting a second opinion, thousands of dollars later - I know why! But I will admit, they ALL had their "salespitch" rehearsed. Dont even bother getting an estimate from them - call ANYONE else.

DO NOT USE MILTON FRANK PLUMBING

I have a mobile home and had a 1/2 inch PVC elbow (75 cent part) disconnect under the house. Since I was out of state at the time and have someone renting the house I had to find a plumber to replace the elbow fitting. I've done much plumbing before and know that this repair takes no more than 30 minutes, including having to go under the house to get to the piece (10 feet crawl/crouch). Milton Frank was punctual about having a guy at the house within an hour. Once the guy got to the house he said it would cost $250 for him to go under the house (10 feet) to see what's wrong. Then he said it would cost approximately $350 to replace up to 10 feet of pipe, but remember I only needed one 75 cent part replaced. I was absolutely flabergasted over the fee of $600 to replace one tiny part of PVC. I called the owner of the company who said he could charge me more appropriately after the technician was able to see exactly what was bad, so I agreed. Forty-five minutes later the tech was finished and charged my $590. WOW, what a deal. This is the most ridiculus highway robbery I've ever encountered. Had the dispatcher told me about the fees when I initially called I would have definately found someone else. DO NOT USE MILTON FRANK PLUMBING UNLESS YOU LOVE THROWING MONEY AWAY. THEY ARE EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. GET SOMEONE ELSE. All plumbers use the same parts, and in this situation, a one-eyed monkey could have performed the repair successfully. Oh, I forgot to tell you. The part they replaced failed the very same day. Now I have to call tomorrow morning to have them come back to fix their fix. I'm curious to see if they will charge me again. I have a feeling the tech will tell me that some other part now needs to be replaced, just like a auto mechanic, and want to charge me for a new full repair. If they do, my next call will be the BB Bureau, then off to small claims court.

Great business ...
